Final evaluation for fragmented time

I think overall I am very happy with my concept, theme and my final outcomes for this project, my initial idea was to show distortion though walkways and paths by editing my images on photoshop to make them look this way, but instead I decided to change my idea slightly to make it look like memories are disappearing which I thought was a much better idea and it went better with the overall concept as it flowed better and it also had a much deeper meaning to it and I think that it was a bit more thoughtful, as at the start I didn't really have a concept and I looked into different artist and came up with one but at the start I don't think it was very strong, but through more thought process and more research, and aswell through classwork and getting feedback I came up with a much stronger idea. I think that the images taken were very strong and prorated my idea well, the images were a little basic as they are walkways and paths but I think that I have developed it to be much mo...

John Gossage

John Gossage was born in 1946 and is an American photographer, he is well known for his artist books and his other publications, within his images they explore urban environments such as abandoned tracts of land, debris and rubbish and graffiti and he likes to explore the relationship and the power between architecture and  power. Gossage is known as a photographer, book designer, publisher and a project manager. I really like one of his projects called 'the pond' as I think that it really relates to my project and I think that it juxtaposes and adds irony as it compares the ugliness and the beauty of the man-made. when creating this he knew that the Americans would be the main audience so they could see the damage being done. I think that his work relates well to mine as I have taken pictures of walkways and in a few of his images he has done the same, making them monochrome. I think that the long winded paths make them...

Daido Moriyam

"Language is a direct medium and communicates meaning and intention  straight . A photograph, on the other hand, is subject to the viewer’s memory, aesthetics, and feelings—all of which affect how the photograph is seen. It isn’t conclusive the way language is. But that’s what makes photography interesting. There’s no point in taking photographs that use language in an expository way." Moriyama has spent his life photography dirty stairwells neon signs and the same locations in Japan in black and white. “Black and white work is closer to what I consider the essence of photography,” He became most popular during the Provoke movement which was based around his very experimental photography using the  grainy aesthetic and gritty subject matter. One of his first major series was called 'Japan : a photo theatre" was a book published in 1968 and it was about the vast urbanisation that was experience in Tokyo and more in Japan life in the middle of the Second World War. I r...

Contact sheet and evaluation 4

I think this shoot went okay, I prefer the day images to the night ones just because you can clearly see that they are walkways and I think that ones with bright daylight are easier to edit and you can see it more clearly. But I do think that it was a successful shoot as all of the images turned out good and do still suit my theme. I think that my top 2 images were number 11 and 14. I think 11 as you can clearly see that it is a walkway and I think it is a very smooth images and it is very satisfying to look at and once edited I think that it will look even better. I also really like image number 14 as it is pretty much the same, the angle in which I took it made it line up with everything perfectly and its satisfying to look at. I think to refine my idea futher I just need to take more images like them and just make them meaningful.
